7th Grade Projects
Whether you are at school giving critiques and working on projects or you are at your house helping a parent cook or at basketball practice, collaboration is a really good quality to have and I feel that this is what I grew the most in. Here at DRSS we do a lot of projects and group work where we need to be able to collaborate efficiently to complete our work. One of the classes I feel that I grew the most in collaboration is Science. In Science, we have our IQWST books where there are group activities that require us to work together to learn the right things from the activity. One thing we did that really helped me grow was the baking soda and road salt baggie experiment. In this project we had a bag with baking soda and road salt in it and then we put a test tube of water in it so that the water did not mix. Then, we sealed the bag and tipped the water so they could all mix. If we did put the water in without tipping or did not seal the bag all the way we would not have taken away the correct information. We had to collaborate because someone had to hold the bag upright, someone had to put the water in without tipping, and somebody had to record what happened. This took a lot of working together because we all didn’t get along at first but we then had to put that aside to do it effectively.
Collaboration is also good to have outside of school because most people do something that involves working with other people whether it is a parent or a teammate. For example, if you are on a basketball team you all have to collaborate to move the ball down the court without the other team getting it or only one person having it the whole time. If you do not collaborate, it may not be fair because one person may hog the ball and that will make people upset because they do not get to participate.
